LANSING, Mich. - Lawmakers gathered at the state capital yesterday to speak on potential changes to Michigan’s Amber Alert system.  Lawmakers on the Families and Veterans Affairs Committee pushed to pass a package of bills that would remove strict standards that are currently needed to issue an Amber Alert.  Advocates say the laws will help avoid delays in finding missing children.  Specifically, the laws would allow for an alert to be issued in cases involving missing children with special needs, or children in dangerous situations.  Nothing was voted on during Tuesday’s hearing.
