BARAGA - An investigation launched in April has resulted in the arrest and arraignment of a woman for stealing from the L’Anse School District. The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that Theresa Beryl Bianco, age 55 of L’Anse, the former business manager of the L’Anse Area Schools, has been charged with felony larceny and theft under false pretenses of $100,000 or more over a period of six years. School officials reported financial discrepancies to the sheriff’s office. Investigators examined school financial records, interviewed witnesses and traced unauthorized transactions. Bianco appeared in 97th District Court on Tuesday and was released on a $25,000 bond. Her next scheduled court appearance will be for a probable cause conference on the 22nd.
