UPPER MICHIGAN - Dr. Abdul El-Sayed a candidate for the U.S. Senate is visiting Upper Michigan this week. Last night, he stopped at Northern Michigan University in Marquette and will travel to Escanaba tonight and Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow.  Dr. El-Sayed is running for Democrat Sen. Gary Peters’ vacant Senate seat. Peters is not seeking re-election.  He’s running against fellow Democrats including Rep. Joe Tate, Sen. Mallory McMorrow, U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.  On the Republican side, former U.S. Representative and 2024 Senate nominee Mike Rogers announced his bid in April. Dentist Kent Benham and engineer Fred Heurtebise are also running.
