IRONWOOD - The Michigan State Police (MSP) and Gogebic Community College are hosting a free Law Enforcement Career Academy in Ironwood from June 7-12, 2026.

Open to those 16 and older, participants will be mentored by local and state officers in activities such as patrol techniques, first aid, and crime scene investigation. Lt. Ben Eckola described it as a way for youth to explore local career paths and build relationships within the community. The program provides free meals and lodging to students from any location. Registration is due by May 31, 2026, through Trooper Joe Renaud at renaudj@michigan.gov or Rebecca Bramlett at rebeccab@gogebic.edu.
