IRON RIVER, WISCONSIN - Construction crews hit a two-inch gas line in Iron River, Wisconsin Wednesday. The gas company was called in to "seal off" the line. Around 80 customers were affected, and residents were evacuated to the Bayfield County fairgrounds. Iron River Elementary, just a mile away from the break, was placed under a shelter-in-place order. The eastern portion of Highway 2 through town was shut down. Traffic to the area was diverted for several hours.
