IRONWOOD - Unionized nurses at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital telling their RN bargaining team to call a strike after a unanimous vote. This after contract negotiations with Aspirus fell apart more than a month ago. The Local Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) representatives at Ironwood say strike authorization was done "in pursuit of a fair contract and in protest of the employer's unfair labor practices." Sarah Trudgeon, RN and president of the local MNA union at the hospital says they remain ready and willing to bargain in good faith to reach a new contract with Aspirus with the goal to reach an agreement that supports Ironwood nurses so they can recruit and retain skilled nurses the Ironwood community needs. Nurses would need to give Aspirus a 10 days' notice prior to any strike activities.
