WASHBURN - When the Washburn City Council meets next week, it will decide what will be done with Hillsdale Park. The city has held several public meetings to gather input on what the community thinks are priorities for improvements to the park. Four options have been developed and were presented at the latest input session in December. Based on that feedback, the parks committee says option number three, which includes improving current courts and playground as well as adding a multi-use court, a picnic pavilion, parking, and ADA accessible walkways. In the green space, the plan calls for adding benches and another playground area. There has been some opposition to option 3, with residents stating new courts aren’t necessary and instead voiced support for option 1, which includes renovating existing tennis and basketball courts rather than adding new ones.
