GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) — An extreme swimmer is back in Lake Michigan trying to cross one of the Great Lakes from Michigan to Wisconsin. Jim Dreyer's effort began Monday night. This comes just a few weeks after trouble with a GPS device forced him to give up after 60 miles. The 61-year-old Dreyer entered the lake at Grand Haven, Michigan. He says the journey to Milwaukee would cover 82 miles in the water and last 72 hours or more without sleep. Dreyer crossed Lake Michigan by a different route 26 years ago in 1998.
