WESTERN U.P. / N. WISCONSIN - The American Red Cross has declared its second-ever national blood crisis, citing a four-year summer low in donations. All blood types are needed, but type O is in particularly high demand, and distributions to hospitals are being limited. Officials say just three additional donors at each blood drive could help rebuild supplies. Donors can schedule appointments through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Local Drives are being held and appointments are available in Ewen in Ontonagon County on Aug. 19,th, and in Hurley in Iron County on August 20^th.
