VILAS COUNTY - The Vilas County Board approved borrowing up to $6.58 million for potential 2027 highway and forestry projects — but the vote does not approve those projects. About $3.2 million is estimated for a new forestry building to replace the 1991 facility, which has water intrusion, mold, and ventilation problems. The borrowing resolution passed unanimously. Officials say the county does not have to spend the full amount, and final costs will be clearer once projects go to bid.
