VILAS COUNTY - August is National Wellness Month, and the American Red Cross needs all blood types, especially O positive and B negative and platelets. Donors in August receive a free A1C screening. As schedules fill, patient transfusions remain critical. Schedule donations at RedCrossBlood.org, by calling the Red Cross, enabling the Alexa Blood Donor Skill or by using the Blood Donor App. Donors during the month of Aug. 1-28 are eligible for a $15 e-gift card. Upcoming donation opportunities include the 19th from noon to 5 pm at St. Peter’s Church in Eagle River.
