ELECTION RESULTS  (AP) — Moderate candidate U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and progressive favorite Abdul El-Sayed are in a tight race for Michigan’s Democratic U.S. Senate nomination with vote counting going into the early morning hours of Wednesday.  Both addressed supporters, saying the vote count could continue well into the day.  The primary became one of the nation’s most expensive campaigns and a proxy battle between the Democratic Party’s establishment and progressive wings. Tuesday's winner will face off in November against Republican former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, who is running unopposed. In Michigan’s Gubernatorial race for Governor Jocelyn Benson is the projected winner for the Democratic side of, and John James is the projected winner for the Republican side.  The two winners will take over for Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who is term-limited.  For Michigan’s 1st Congressional District which includes Gogebic and Ontonagon County Jack Bergman is expected to represent the Republicans in November after securing a majority of the votes in yesterday’s primary election. Bergman ran against Justin Michal and Matthew DenOtter.  The projected winner for the Democratic Party is Callie Barr. Barr ran against Kyle Blomquist and Wayne Stiles.  In Gogebic County the Gogebic Co. Animal Control millage, Gogebic Co. Medical Building and maintenance Millage, Bessemer Twp Operating Millage, Watersmeet Twp Op Millage, and the Watersmeet Twp School Millage all easily passing.
