VILAS COUNTY - Vilas County officials are considering a 12-month moratorium on new data centers, battery energy storage facilities, and large-scale solar projects.

 The pause would give planners time to develop safety and land-use regulations and to address concerns including fire hazards, noise, light pollution, stormwater, and traffic. A public hearing is set for tomorrow, the 23rd, at the Vilas County Courthouse, with a board vote scheduled for October 27. Oneida County also recently approved a one-year moratorium on data centers.
