FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A bipartisan program in Michigan aims to address the high costs of parenting by giving mothers thousands of dollars in cash with no strings attached. The public and private partnership was founded in Flint in 2024. Rx Kids gives pregnant women up to $7,500 over the first year of their children’s lives. The program gives payments without specific income requirements and virtually no red tape. The program’s founder says the installments are meant to help families during an expensive time.
