ONTONAGON COUNTY - The Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) has taken the hydroelectric generation powerhouse near the Victoria Dam offline for upgrade work.

Water from the dam will be routed around the powerhouse by way of the existing bypass and spillway through November. The change in water flow will mean certain recreational opportunities will be unavailable, the North Country Trail will become inaccessible where it crosses the west branch of the Ontonagon River, and fishing immediately downstream from the power house will be unavailable. The Upper Peninsula Power Company asks the public to be mindful and obey all posted warning signs at all times.
