BAYFIELD - The Kim Kingsley animal abuse case continues. The former Washburn man pleaded not guilty late last week to 58 various charges of animal abuse. Kingsley, 73, stands accused of mistreating horses kept on his property in Bell. 16 of those horses were removed and are being kept in Bayfield County custody. A veterinarian who viewed the property at the time of the seizure said the animals were being kept in poor conditions. Kingsley has stated that all of the horses on his property, an estimated 50 along with the 16 seized were wild mustangs and were unable to be handled. Kingsley’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 1st, with the trial expected to last about a week. If convicted on all counts and given the maximum sentences, he could be facing more than 50 years in prison.
