IRON COUNTY - A Montreal man was convicted of felony false imprisonment, misdemeanor battery, and disorderly conduct but acquitted of strangulation on April 2 in Iron County for a November 7, 2024, altercation with his partner, ending their 16-year relationship. Charles Maslanka contended he defended himself against Stevie LaFortune after she attacked him while confronting him about his alleged infidelity, and that her injuries were the result of a drunken confrontation between the two and Maslanka's attempt to protect himself. He faces up to seven years; Judge Anthony Stella will set sentencing.
