MADISON — A bill that would make online sports betting legal in Wisconsin passed the state senate last week in a 21-12 vote. The bill would require the servers hosting online sportsbooks to be physically located on tribal lands in Wisconsin. That would give tribes a large portion of online sports betting profits, a portion of which would be passed onto the state. Evers has shown general interest in allowing sports betting with tribal control but It’s unclear if he’ll sign. A Marquette Law School Poll shows 64% of Wisconsin voters oppose the legalization. Meanwhile A Siena University study found that 22% of all Americans have an active online sports betting account. According to a study by the American Gaming Association, illegal online gaming and sports betting brought in $23.6 billion in 2024. If signed, the bill would make Wisconsin the 32nd state to make online sports betting legal.
