LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is making a direct appeal to young men who shifted sharply to the right in the most recent election. Whitmer is considered a potential 2028 presidential candidate who has built a national profile built on advocating for women’s rights. Her appeal to address the needs of young men in her State of the State speech last night comes after the group swung sharply for Donald Trump in the November presidential election. Whitmer, who faces a split Legislature, has pledged to work with Republicans and Trump in her final two years as governor.
