N. WISCONSIN – Tribal members from Lac Du Flambeau along with other Northern Wisconsin tribes left for Madison early this morning to attend a court hearing regarding fishing rights and natural resources on Tribal lands.  The State of Wisconsin is suing the Lac Du Flambeau Tribe following efforts by the tribe to place restrictions on non-member fishing on lakes within their reservation.  The tribe says the restrictions go beyond fishing and is about sovereignty, conservation and the tribe’s responsibility to care for resources the tribe has depended on for generations.  A bus bound for Madison left Lac Du Flambeau at 4:15 this morning.
