LAC DU FLAMBEAU - Tribal, state, and local agencies are searching Whitefish Lake on the Lac du Flambeau Reservation after an empty motorboat was found traveling in circles last night.  According to Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police, a concerned citizen called 911 around 8:21 p.m. last night to report an unoccupied motorboat moving in continuous circles on the lake. The caller told dispatchers he had seen someone operating the boat earlier in the evening.  Officers recovered the empty motorboat searched the surface of the water for anyone who may have fallen overboard but found nothing.  Police were able to determine the owner of the boat and contacted that person’s family that confirmed the owner of that boat was missing.  A thorough search of the lake is underway.  The missing boaters’ name has not been released.
