UPPER MICHIGAN - U.P. Michigan Works has secured 41 grants for businesses in the U.P. for workforce employment training. The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunities Going Pro Talent Fund. The grants, totaling $1.6 million, are part of a $40 million round of funding across the state, designed to help make employees more marketable. Industries like health care, construction and hospitality, some of those grants will focus on, whether it’s actual employment training or recruiting new employees. The department of Labor and Economic Opportunities grant should train just over 1,000 employees in the U.P.
