BESSEMER - The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners at their last meeting voted to work toward converting the county to an internet cloud storage system. The county has hired BS&A Software of Bath, Michigan at the recommendation of the county’s Technology Committee and the County IT Director, Brandon Tauer. Securing a contract now, even though work won’t start for at least a year and half, guarantees savings on the service. And the just under $119,000 set up cost won’t be charged until the 2026-27 fiscal year. The annual fee for the cloud storage service will be $44,000 annually, which won’t start until the project goes online in 2027-28. Using cloud service means less money spent on local IT maintenance and storage does not rely on computer hardware or local storage.
