VILAS COUNTY - The Vilas County Sheriff’s Department reports a single vehicle crash Saturday night has claimed the life of a 49-year-old person after the vehicle lost control due to ice roads. A call to dispatch around 11 pm said the vehicle was on its roof. Initial investigation suggests the driver the only occupant of the vehicle was traveling north on Highway 45 near Conover when they lost control of the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being held pending notification of family. The crash remains under investigation.
