N. WISCONSIN - Harvest numbers from this year's bear season in Wisconsin show a large increase in the number of bears taken.  The DNR's harvest numbers say over 4,200 were killed during the roughly one-month season that ran from September 4 through October 8.  High natural food production last year contributed to higher numbers, combined with lower harvests last year.  A total of 11,501 bear hunting licenses were given out to hunters through a lottery-based system.
