ARBOR VITAE – At around noon Saturday, Arbor Vitae Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire of a duplex on White Pine Lane in Arbor Vitae in Southern Vilas County.  A search of the inside for victims was attempted, but fire crews were forced to retreat due to a high level of fire and heat.  One occupant escaped the fire and was taken to a local hospital and airlifted to a Madison burn unit for treatment of burn injuries.  An investigation indicated the fire started in a lower-level room where ammunition re-loading was in process. It is believed a round discharged and ignited gun powder, causing the fire. The duplex is determined to be a complete loss.  Fire departments from Woodruff, St. Germain, Lake Tomahawk, Minocqua, Hazelhurst, Lac Du Flambeau, Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters, and Plum Lake responded as well.  No first responders were injured.

IRON COUNTY - One person is dead following a single-vehicle rollover in Iron County.  The Iron County Sheriffs Office says the accident occurred at around 1:10 p.m., Thursday afternoon on County Highway D in Kimball, Wis.  Iron County deputies, Hurley Police and Beacon Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the deputy found an unresponsive man trapped inside the vehicle.  After the driver, a 31-year-old man from Gile, Wisc., was extricated from the car by Hurley Fire and Rescue, he was pronounced at the scene by the Iron County coroner.  According to a preliminary investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstructionist, the man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was traveling northbound on County Highway D at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch on the west side, rolling over before coming to rest.  The release says it is believed that the man was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.  The crash remains under investigation
