HURLEY Wis. (AP) — Moderate Democrat David Crowley has won the Wisconsin primary for governor. He defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong.  He pitched himself as the candidate best positioned to win in November against Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is endorsed by President Donald Trump.  Crowley locked up the backing of more mainstream Democrats, overcoming Hong’s insurgent campaign. Crowley didn’t address supporters last night but is expected to hold an event this evening. The Associated Press has called the Republican primary race in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District which includes Iron, Ashland, Bayfield, Price and Vilas Counties in favor of Michael Alfonso.  The race was called at approximately 8:20 p.m. last night with 40% of precincts reporting. Alfonso secured 48% of the votes to clinch the nomination. In Iron County, voters were split on who would represent the democrat party in the Governor’s race with David Crowley receiving just 8 more votes than Francesca Hong winning over Iron County Voters 215 to 207.  In the race for Iron County Sheriff Mike Randall beat out Logan Dahlbacka by 238 votes.  Randall with 993 votes.  Dahlback with 755.  In total 2,831 votes were cast on the Republican side on the ticket, 2,051 on the Democrat side.  https://www.co.iron.wi.gov/DocumentCenter/View/631/August-2026-Election-Night-SheetPDF?bidId=
