IRON COUNTY - Line 5 was a major topic at this week’s Wisconsin DNR board meeting, despite not being on the agenda. DNR Secretary Karen Hyun says the agency is overseeing cleanup of the August 25 spill in Iron County, when a truck struck the pipeline, releasing about 1.3 million gallons of natural gas liquids. DNR collected soil and water samples, and Enbridge removed the damaged section. Public comments both criticized and defended the pipeline, citing environmental concerns, tribal sovereignty and Wisconsin’s energy needs.
