N. WISCONSIN – Yesterday was election day in Wisconsin. Some local results we have include in the Butternut School District in Southern Ashland County Katie Wilson wins a seat on the Butternut School board beating Randol Smart by 3 votes 423 to 420 and the Butternut School referendum narrowly passing by just 1 vote 281 to 280 in yesterday’s voting. The referendum will raise money for operation costs of the Butternut School District. The Butternut School District will still need to trim $500k from its existing operating budget. In the Mellen School District Blake Pierce wins an at large seat on the school board with 483 votes over Elizabeth Young with 453 and Amber D. Erickson with 444 votes in a close 3-way race and the Mellen school referendum passes with 58.5% voting yes. The money generated will be used for school improvements. Bayfield School District Kylie Vadnais the clear winner of a seat on the school board with 77% of the vote, Washburn School District Sandra Raspotnik the winner of that at large seat. We have not yet received results for the Mercer Board of Supervisor race between Roxanne Lutgen, David McNutt, James Schmidt and Kevin Towne the four looking to fill a seat held by Christan Brandt who did not seek re-election.
