BAYFIELD - The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Committee has reversed its recommendation for a countywide Flock camera policy, which could have included a ban. The Daily Press reports that, in a unanimous vote on Sunday, the committee directed county staff to review existing surveillance policies before making a recommendation to the full county board. The move reverses a three-to-two vote in September that called for a countywide policy covering automated license plate readers and other surveillance technology. The sheriff’s office operates six Flock cameras. The technology has drawn public opposition over privacy and data security concerns. The committee will review the policies and consider public input before making any recommendation.
