ASHLAND - An Ashland man has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage to property, one as party to a crime and one count of removing a vehicle’s major parts without consent. Mason Schevlan, 24, had four additional charges of criminal damage to property that were dismissed as part of the plea. The charges relate to a number of catalytic converter thefts in late 2022. In return for the plea deal, Schevlan admitted to stealing not only converters, but also admitted to stealing money from donation boxes and cash tubes. Schevlan’s partner in the thefts, Russell Claremboux, 23, of Superior is scheduled to appear in court possibly next week. Bayfield County Circuit Court Judge John P. Anderson sentenced Schevlan to 6 months in jail and a year of probation.
