SPOONER - A 56-year-old man was found dead Saturday afternoon at a home near Spooner in Northwest Wisconsin. The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home in a rural area near Spooner at around 1:18 p.m. Saturday afternoon to conduct a welfare check and encountered a 25-year-old man leaving the property from an attached garage. Authorities said he was detained after making statements to deputies when they asked to see the 56-year-old man.  Deputies searched the home and found the 56-year-old dead from multiple physical wounds.  It was not specified how the wounds were made.  The 25-year-old remains in the Washburn County Jail pending formal charges.
