BAYFIELD - An Iron River man incarcerated at the Bayfield County Jail is accused of tampering with a fire alarm while in the jail. Jonathan Olsen, 35 was seen on video surveillance setting off the fire alarm and activating the fire sprinklers. The sprinklers flooded the cellblock where Olsen was housed, and the system was damaged. Inmates were relocated while the Washburn Fire Department and Bayfield County maintenance arrived to shut off the sprinklers and cleaning up the flooding. He faces charges of interfering with firefighting alarm, intentionally giving false alarm, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. Olsen has been convicted of that kind of tampering before when he was held in Racine County in 2021.
