MELLEN - The Mellen Township Fire Department held its 8th annual Fundraiser at the Station on Saturday. The event is one of the biggest community events of the year in Mellen. Fire Department Captain Josh Dessart said the event had the largest turnout ever. Friends and neighbors came to the station, had a free meal together and enjoyed each other’s company and participated in various raffles, like the meat raffle and the 50/50. The event helps the department pay for equipment that the budget won’t always cover, like specialized tools and protective gear. Captain Dessart says the community is always very supportive of the department.
