ONTONAGON - The body of a man found in Lake Superior on Sunday has been identified as a kayaker from Ontonagon who disappeared last July. The search for Dale Venema, 74, lasted several days, but he was never found after he was last seen kayaking on July 14th of last year. The Ontonagon County Medical Examiner confirmed his identity on Tuesday. The Michigan State Police extended the agencies thanks to the long list of local agencies that assisted in the search for Mr. Venema and thanked the residents and visitors of Ontonagon who provided information that helped find him.
