BOULDER JUNCTION - Boulder Junction is opening its first disc golf course, a sport growing in popularity. Funds were raised last winter to construct the course, managed by town parks board member Dennis Duke and Pete Berett. Though not fully complete, all baskets are in, allowing for play, with a soft opening anticipated by October. Construction, which began in the spring, relied heavily on volunteers. The town purchased the 10-acre site from the DNR five years ago. Duke describes the course as short and highly technical due to numerous trees. The course will be open year-round. Duke, Berett, and volunteers hope players enjoy the course and appreciate nature. A grand opening is expected next spring, but players are encouraged to try it now. Volunteers are still welcome.
