IRONWOOD – With Labor Day behind us the downward trend for the price of gas is picking up steam in Michigan. Drivers are seeing a double-digit decrease in prices to start the week down 13 cents from a week ago. AAA Michigan says drivers are now paying an average of $3.18 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas. That is 8 cents lower than this time last year and 2 cents lower than the national average, which is $3.20.  In the Upper Peninsula, the lowest average is in Dickinson County at $2.99 per gallon. The highest is still in Mackinac County at $3.44, Ironwood prices slightly above the state and national averages at $3.23 a gallon.
