MADISON - Wisconsin Democrats cast more ballots in the August 11 election than in any midterm partisan primary since at least 2000, according to an analysis of Wisconsin Elections Commission data. More than 790,000 ballots for Democrats were cast in the August 11 election. Republicans, who did not have a hotly contested primary, had a turnout of about 470,000 votes, closer to a typical midterm primary turnout.
