GOGEBIC COUNTY - 58-year-old Brian Berquist, of Marensico Township was sentenced Tuesday in Gogebic County District Court by Judge Michael Pope to 57 months to a maximum of 15 years in prison for a drunk driving crash that resulted in the death of his passenger.  Berquist entered a no-contest plea back on June 23 to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death following a crash near Lake Gogebic that occurred on March 26, 2025. The investigation was conducted by the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post and the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office.
