UPPER MICHIGAN – Changes in the Michigan Marijuana industry resulting in the closure of 5 Higher Love dispensaries in the U.P. Higher Love Cannabis Co. has suspended operations at five of its nine U.P. dispensaries, citing rising taxes and financial pressure on Michigan’s cannabis industry. Crystal Falls, Escanaba, Houghton, Munising, and Ontonagon locations all closed at the end of the day on Sunday. The company says Michigan’s new 24% wholesale cannabis tax, combined with existing retail and sales taxes, has created an unsustainable environment. Locations in Ironwood, Marquette, Menominee and Norway will remain open as the company focuses resources on those four stores.
