N. WISCONSIN / WESTERN U.P. - Xcel Energy’s Ashland-Ironwood Transmission Rebuild Project is set to begin. The multi-year project will rebuild and relocate two older transmission lines from the 50s and the 70s between the Gingles and Ironwood substations. This eliminates aging infrastructure across the Bad River Band Of Lake Superior Chippewa reservation and removes a section from Copper Falls State Park. Construction begins soon in Hurley, with phased activity through 2028. Landowners will be notified of construction on their property, scheduled from October 2025 to March 2028. Residents may experience temporary traffic controls and increased activity. More information is available at www.xcelenergytransmission.com/Ashland
