MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Mandela Barnes has dropped out of the Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor. The former lieutenant governor made the announcement in a video posted on his Facebook page. Democratic socialist Francesca Hong has garnered strong support from the liberal wing of the party. Barnes is the third Democrat to withdraw from the race. The primary is Aug. 11. The winner is expected to face U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who faces only nominal opposition in the Republican primary. Wisconsin voters who have already returned their absentee ballots for the state’s primary voting for Barnes are not allowed to void those ballots and request a new one, following a judge ruling on Wednesday.  More than 117,000 absentee ballots had been returned already in Wisconsin.
