ONTONAGON COUNTY - A woman is dead after a single vehicle crash in Ontonagon County. The Ontonagon Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Porcupine Mountains Lake of the Clouds around 8:15 am, to find a completely burned out vehicle off the road and a woman who had been thrown from the vehicle. Excessive speed is thought to be a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation. The name of the woman killed has not been released pending notification of family. Multiple agencies responded to assist at the scene, including the Michigan State Police accident investigation unit, MSP Motor Carrier Officers, Department of Natural Resources staff from the Porcupine Mountains, SONCO EMS, Lahti’s Towing, Cane Funeral Home, and the Ontonagon County medical examiner’s office.
