LANSING (AP) - Governor Whitmer spoke to a crowd in Flint yesterday as she met to sign the 2025 state education budget.  Whitmer said the budget aims to support students, schools and teachers across the state in multiple ways. These include investments in student funding, raising educator wages and continuing the state’s free meals program.  U.P. Senator Ed McBroom, (R) 38th Senate District, voted against the budget. He said one of the major flaws is that it doesn’t support teachers’ retirement, lowering the amount of money offered for teachers’ pensions.  The budget goes into effect Oct. 1 and goes through Sept. 30 of next year.
