WAKEFIELD – Wakefield City Council Approves Revised City Budget. The Wakefield City Council, having approved City Manager Robert Brown Jr.’s initial budget proposal in May, held a budget workshop in late June to deliberate on funding for priority projects, grant matching funds, and long-term capital equipment investments. The council also greenlit the 2025 tax rate, projected to generate nearly $797,000. City Clerk Susan Ahonen confirmed that this year’s tax revenue collection would not exceed last year’s. Consequently, with the anticipated tax revenue, the Council passed a revised budget of $5,730,428 for fiscal year 2025-26.
