LANSING - The Michigan state legislature has reached a stalemate in the approval process of the 2026 school aid budget. July 1 was the statutory deadline to approve the budget for the 2026 fiscal year. To move forward, there needs to be a budget passed out of the House and the Senate, and an agreement out of the Executive Office. The State Senate passed the budget, but the House was unable to reach a decision. The earliest lawmakers can meet to discuss the budget is July 15.
