IRON COUNTY - Crews working on Enbridge's Line 5 reroute spilled up to 1,900 gallons of drilling fluid Saturday near Gurney in Iron County. Enbridge reported the release to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources after it happened around 4:30 p.m. The spill, known as an inadvertent return or "frac-out," occurred during construction of the new 41-mile pipeline around the Bad River Tribe's reservation. The spill comes as the Bad River Tribe and environmental groups continue challenging state permits in Iron County Circuit Court, seeking to stop construction of the Line 5 reroute.
