MANITOWISH WATERS, Wis. - The Frank B. Koller Memorial Park Beach in Manitowish Waters will be closed effective Wednesday due to high levels of E. coli.  The levels of E. coli were more than double the amount needed to close the beach.  With high amounts of rain recently, there is a lot of runoff from the beach which includes goose droppings, known to contain E. coli.  The department will not actively get rid of the E. coli, they will rely on natural dilution.  People should stay out of the water, because consumption of E. coli can cause health problems.  The Vilas County Public Health Department will re-test the water Thursday and will be providing updates on when the beach will be reopened.
