GOGBEIC COUNTY - The Gogebic County Board approved adding about $35,000 in state waste management grant funding to its budget and using the money for contractual services. The funding supports a new regional materials management plan aimed at reducing landfill use through recycling and composting efforts. Officials say recycling remains a challenge due to staffing, transportation, and equipment costs. The state grant runs through July 2027.
