HURLEY - Iron County may bring back the role of county administrator, a role that was eliminated more than a decade ago. At a meeting at the beginning of the week, Kurt Wolff, chair of the county board of supervisors finance committee, put forward the subject saying that almost all counties now have some form of county administrator. Wolff said that although the position wasn’t in the budget, it would make sense to consider the idea. Committee member Scott Erickson countered that the going salary for administrators was around $70K, and that the last person to fill the position, Dennis DeRosso of Oma was paid $40K when his term ended in 2013. When his term ended the duties of administrator were given to other county officials.
